Candidate assessments for hiring teams

Screening on skill means every candidate answers the same questions under the same conditions, and you compare the results rather than the impressions.

A screening round, end to end

  1. Author the assessment: sections per competency, marks per question, and a deadline — one for the whole attempt, or one per section.
  2. Add the shortlist as candidates, individually or bulk-imported, and tag them by role or requisition.
  3. Send invitations with the attempts allowed, an availability window, an expiry, and an optional password. Delivery is tracked from sent through delivered, opened, started and completed, with bounces and complaints recorded.
  4. Let candidates sit it in their own time, or open a supervised live session for a synchronous round.
  5. Compare candidates on section and per-question analytics, including time-on-task.

Fair comparison

Server-enforced timing
Every candidate gets the same clock, anchored to the server. Disconnecting, refreshing, or changing a system clock does not extend an attempt.
Randomisation with an audit trail
Question and option order can be randomised per candidate, and the order each candidate saw is snapshotted so their report matches their screen.
Consistent marking
Objective questions grade automatically on submission. Short-answer responses route to a review lane so a human applies the same standard to all of them.
Attempt limits
Set per invitation, so a retake is a decision you make rather than something that happens by default.

Remote rounds

Supervisor mode opens a waiting room, holds candidates until you start, and gives you a live roster with per-candidate integrity counts while the round runs. You can message one candidate or everyone, at informational, warning or critical priority, and they can message back — which covers the "my question won’t load" case without an email thread.

Ended sessions are archived to a session history, so a round that gets queried later can be reconstructed.

Who on your team sees what

Invite interviewers and coordinators to the store with role-bound access — owner, admin, manager, team member, or a custom role you define. Sensitive actions are written to an immutable audit trail, and candidate records live in a permanent directory per store with tags and groups rather than in a spreadsheet on someone’s laptop.

What this does not do

Worth knowing before you plan around it.

  • This is an assessment tool, not an applicant tracking system. There are no job postings, pipeline stages, offer workflows, or ATS integrations.
  • Proctoring is browser-level and carries no identity verification — no webcam, screen recording, or face match. It tells you the exam surface lost focus, not who was sitting at the keyboard. For a decision that turns on identity, pair it with a supervised session or a live interview.
  • There is no coding-execution environment. Technical screening here means multiple choice, multiple select, true/false and short answer — not compiled and executed submissions.

Common questions

Can candidates take the assessment without an account?

Yes. Candidate registration by email is enough for most assessments — the invitation link or test code is all they need.

How do I stop a candidate retaking an assessment?

Attempt limits are set per invitation and enforced when an attempt starts. Add an availability window and an expiry so the assessment is only live when you intend it to be.

Can I tell whether a candidate left the exam tab?

With proctoring enabled the runtime reports tab switches, window blur, fullscreen exit, copy, paste, right-click and developer-tools opening, and keeps a violation count. Treat it as a signal to review, not as proof of anything on its own.

Do candidates automatically see their score?

No. They receive a copy of their own answers with no correctness or scoring. The scored breakdown is only sent if you explicitly share it — which is usually what you want during a hiring process.
