Getting started, buying, selling, assessments, billing and account security — answered.
TheBlueMustard is an all-in-one creator platform. It combines a digital product marketplace (templates, fonts, graphics, code, eBooks, presets), a full online assessment engine (tests, question banks, candidates, invitations, live sessions, results), and a subscription billing stack (plans, invoices, credits, coupons, refunds). Creators can launch a branded storefront on their own subdomain and start selling or assessing in minutes.
Click "Sign Up" in the navigation bar. We use Clerk for authentication, so you can register with your email address (with optional two-factor authentication) or, where offered by Clerk, use a social sign-in provider. Once signed up, you can browse and purchase products, subscribe to plans, take assessments you are invited to, and — after upgrading — sell your own products or run your own tests.
Yes. Creating an account, browsing the marketplace, adding items to your wishlist, and taking an assessment you have been invited to are all free. Becoming a creator, opening your first store, and setting up basic products or tests are also free — you only pay when a paid feature (such as certain metered features or a premium subscription tier) is enabled for your workspace.
After creating an account, open "Become a Creator" from the header (or the /become-creator page). Once upgraded, you can open the Creator Dashboard to create stores, add products, upload files, author tests and question banks, invite team members and candidates, publish subscription plans, and start earning.
The apex site (thebluemustard.com) is the full creator platform — marketplace, dashboards, admin, everything. The dedicated tests portal at tests.thebluemustard.com is a focused surface for taking assessments: candidates land on the onboarding stage machine, enter a test code or share link, and go straight into an attempt without any marketing chrome. Your <slug>.thebluemustard.com subdomain is your creator storefront.
Browse the marketplace or visit a creator's store, find a product you like, and click 'Buy Now' or add it to your cart. Complete the checkout using Razorpay — we support credit and debit cards, UPI, net banking, and popular digital wallets, all in Indian Rupees.
Yes. We support guest checkout: enter your email address at checkout and you'll receive an order confirmation with a secure, time-boxed download link (valid for 30 days by default). You can also verify that email later with a 6-digit OTP to reissue the link and see all your guest purchases in one place. Creating a free account gives you a permanent Library, order history, wishlist, and licence management.
Registered buyers can download from the Library page. Guest buyers get a download link in the order confirmation email; you can also verify your email through /guest/downloads to reissue a link. Every purchase generates a unique licence key with a configurable download limit (default 5), and every download is logged for security.
We use Razorpay for payment processing, which supports credit cards, debit cards, UPI, net banking, and various digital wallets commonly used in India. Some transactions may also offer EMI or BNPL options where Razorpay makes them available.
Due to the digital nature of products, all one-time sales are generally final. However, we may issue refunds for duplicate charges, products significantly different from their description, unresolvable download or access issues, or corrupted files. Refund requests must be submitted within 7 days of purchase via our Contact page. Approved refunds revoke the associated licence, cancel the entitlement, and issue a credit note against the original invoice. Voluntary tips sent through the Support-a-Creator UPI page are non-refundable — those funds flow directly through UPI and never touch TheBlueMustard's systems.
All prices on the Platform are listed and charged in Indian Rupees (INR), inclusive of applicable taxes unless stated otherwise on the product page. We issue GST-compliant invoices with sequential numbering and CGST / SGST / IGST tax lines. To receive a B2B invoice with your GSTIN, add it in your billing account settings before checkout.
Subscriptions let a creator sell recurring access to a store, a specific product, a specific test, a bundle, or a platform-scoped seat. Buyers pick a plan and a price (weekly, monthly, or yearly), start a trial where offered, and get access as long as their subscription stays active.
Every subscription grants an Entitlement, which is the single source of access-truth the Platform checks on every gated action (downloads, test attempts, feature use). Your entitlement stays active while the subscription is Active or in the Grace window (a short dunning window we give you if a renewal fails), and expires when the subscription is cancelled or expired.
Go to your Billing settings and cancel from there. By default, cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you keep access until then and the plan simply stops renewing. Already-consumed metered features (assessments run, invites sent, and so on) are not refunded.
Some features are metered — for example, the number of assessment attempts you can run, the number of candidate invites you can send, or the emails you can dispatch each period. Prepaid credits (assessment, invite, email, and AI credit types) cover overages beyond your plan limits. Consumption is recorded in an append-only ledger, and promotional credits can carry an expiry date.
Yes. If a creator or the Platform has published a coupon, you can redeem it at checkout — subject to the coupon's validity window, redemption limits, target scope (specific plans, target types, or plan kinds), and duration (once, N cycles, or forever). Some coupons are also flagged as referral codes.
Open Billing from your account dropdown to see the full history of orders, subscriptions, and invoices with their tax lines, plus any credit notes or refunds that have been issued.
After becoming a creator, go to your Dashboard and click "New Store." You can customise it with a name, tagline, description, logo, banner, favicon, brand colours, and support contact. Each store gets a unique slug and is reachable at <slug>.thebluemustard.com.
Yes. Creators can create and manage multiple stores subject to the STORES resource limit on their plan (a deleted store frees a slot). Each store has its own branding, subscription plans, question bank, candidates, and team members — great for keeping different lines of work separate.
You can upload most common digital file formats (images, editor assets, and downloadable product files) subject to the Platform's configured MIME-type and per-file / per-product size limits, which the dashboard surfaces before you upload. Files are securely stored on AWS S3, checksummed, and delivered to buyers through short-lived signed URLs.
Your Creator Dashboard shows revenue, orders, product performance, and buyer demographics, plus subscription-specific metrics. You can also see which products are wishlisted or reviewed, and drill into individual orders and their invoices.
The payment is processed through Razorpay, an order is captured and fulfilled exactly once (idempotent across the verify and webhook paths), a licence key is generated for the buyer, an entitlement is granted (subscription buyers get theirs as part of the plan), you get a "New Sale" email, and the buyer gets a purchase receipt with their download instructions.
Yes. From your dashboard you can create a Plan (one-time or subscription) with one or more Prices (FLAT, METERED, or CREDIT_PACK). Publish the plan to attach it to a store, product, test, or bundle. Free products behave as an implicit one-time plan; explicit plans unlock recurring billing, trials, metered overages, and credit packs.
Yes. Open your store's Team page and invite members by email. Each member can be assigned one or more roles (owner, admin, manager, team member, customer, or any custom role you create), and you can require store-specific fields at registration (like an employee ID or roll number). Team seats count against your subscription's TEAM_MEMBERS limit.
It's a lightweight UPI QR page where visitors can voluntarily tip a creator with any amount they like using GPay, PhonePe, Paytm, or any UPI app. Funds move directly between the payer and the creator via UPI — TheBlueMustard does not process, hold, or account for those payments, and tips are non-refundable through the Platform.
You can author tests with multiple sections, four question types (single choice, multiple choice, true/false, short answer), server-anchored timers (whole-test or section-wise), passing scores, maximum attempts, randomization, and rich navigation policies (section jump, return to previous, forward before complete, auto-advance on expiry, read-only after expiry).
The Question Bank is a per-store library of reusable questions with exact-duplicate and near-duplicate detection, cross-language translations (grouped into question families), and immutable version history — every content edit appends a new version so historical reports stay reproducible. You can bulk-import questions from a spreadsheet and export the bank when you need to.
Every published test gets a human-friendly Test Code alongside its share token. Candidates can enter that short code on the assessment portal (tests.thebluemustard.com) instead of clicking a long share link — very handy for classrooms or campus cohorts.
From the Candidates workspace you can add candidates one by one, bulk-import them from a spreadsheet, group them, tag them, and then send an Assessment Invitation. Each invitation carries the number of attempts allowed, an optional password, an availability window, and expiration. The email includes both a direct link and the Test Code as a fallback, and its delivery lifecycle is tracked (sent → delivered → opened → started → completed, plus bounce and complaint tracking via SES/SNS).
Candidate launch mode lets each candidate start their attempt as soon as they register (self-serve). Supervisor mode opens a Live Session with a waiting room — candidates queue up, you monitor the roster in real time, and everyone starts together when you press "Start." You can end the session forcibly at any point.
When you enable proctoring, the candidate runtime reports client-side integrity events — tab switch, window blur, fullscreen exit, copy, paste, right-click, and developer-tools open — along with a running violation count. The runtime can automatically warn, force-submit, or (at your discretion) ban candidates whose violations exceed the configured threshold. You can also send in-session messages (all-candidates or individual, INFO / WARNING / CRITICAL priority) over the real-time gateway.
By default, after every attempt is submitted, a "candidate exam report" email is sent that shows the candidate their own answers with no correctness or scoring information — a reference copy in the language they took the test in. The full "candidate result" email with scored feedback is only sent when you explicitly share it from the results view.
Yes. Both tests (via the Test Bulk Import flow) and candidates (via the Candidate Bulk Import flow) support spreadsheet uploads that are parsed and validated in the background. You get a preview with per-row summary, errors, and warnings, and can confirm the import only after reviewing the diff. Failed rows are reported so you can fix and re-upload.
The first time a candidate starts (or resumes) an attempt against a test, the timer and section-duration configuration is locked. You can still edit most other fields, but changing the timing model requires duplicating the test into a fresh draft. This keeps in-flight and historical reports honest.
Click the "Start assessment" button in the email, or open tests.thebluemustard.com and enter the Test Code shown in the email. Follow the on-screen instructions to register (name and email) and begin your attempt.
Not usually. Most assessments accept candidate registration by email — no full account required. Some private or paid tests may require you to sign in, subscribe, or purchase access first; the portal will guide you through the exact steps.
The timer is enforced by our server, not your local clock. Depending on how the test was configured, you have either a single deadline for the whole attempt (ENTIRE_TEST) or per-section deadlines whose sum is your total time (SECTION_WISE). When a section or the whole attempt expires, we auto-submit what you have so far.
If the creator has enabled proctoring, the runtime tracks integrity events like tab switches, window blur, fullscreen exit, copy/paste, right-click, and developer-tools opening. You may see a warning, receive a message from the assessor, or the attempt may auto-submit if you exceed the configured violation threshold.
Yes. Live sessions have an assessor chat — you can send a message and the assessor can reply. The assessor can also broadcast messages to everyone. All messages are stored with read receipts.
After you submit, you automatically receive a "candidate exam report" email showing your own responses — no correctness or scoring. The full scored breakdown (correct answers, marks, and pass / fail) is only shared with you if the creator explicitly sends the result email from their dashboard. Objective questions are graded automatically; short-answer or subjective ones may go through a manual-review lane first.
We use Clerk for secure authentication with optional two-factor authentication, all connections are encrypted with TLS (HTTPS/WSS), and files are stored on AWS S3 with server-side encryption and short-lived pre-signed URLs. We do not store your payment card details — those are handled exclusively by Razorpay under PCI-DSS Level 1 standards. Every sensitive action is written to an immutable audit trail, and per-IP rate limits and platform-owner kill switches protect the Platform from abuse.
Yes. From Settings → Export data you can download a copy of your account, creator, and store data in a structured format. If you need candidate or assessment data from a store you own, contact us and we will facilitate a fuller export.
Yes. From Settings → Delete account you can deactivate your account; you can also request a full deletion by contacting our support team. Please note that this will permanently remove your profile, stores, and associated data, subject to any legal retention obligations (for example, tax records must be retained for 8 years). Orders and licences already issued to buyers remain active on their side.
Everyone starts as a User (browse and buy). Users can upgrade to Creator (create stores, sell products, run assessments). Store team members hold per-store roles (owner, admin, manager, team member, customer, or any custom role a store creates). Admin and platform-owner roles are reserved for TheBlueMustard's operations team.
