Recurring plans, entitlements and metered limits

A subscription sells recurring access rather than a file. What the subscriber can do is decided by an entitlement, which is the single thing the platform checks on every gated action.

Plans and prices

A plan describes what a subscriber gets; a price describes how they pay for it. One plan can carry several prices, which is how a monthly and a yearly option live on the same offer.

What a plan can grant
Access to a store, a specific product, a specific test, a bundle, or a platform-scoped seat.
Billing intervals
Weekly, monthly, or yearly, with an optional free trial. The first charge lands after the trial window.
Price models
Flat, metered (a base plus a per-unit rate over the included allowance), or a credit pack.
Limits
A plan sets resource limits — stores, team seats, products, and metered features such as assessments run or invites sent.

Entitlements: how access is actually enforced

Subscribing grants an entitlement, and the entitlement — not the payment record — is what gates downloads, test attempts and feature use. It stays active while the subscription is active or inside the grace window, and expires when the subscription is cancelled or lapses.

That separation is why a failed renewal does not instantly lock a paying customer out: the grace window keeps the entitlement alive while the retry sequence runs.

Credits and coupons

Prepaid credits
Assessment, invite, email and AI credits cover usage beyond plan limits. Consumption is recorded in an append-only ledger, and promotional credits can carry an expiry.
Coupons
Platform-wide or store-only, with a validity window, redemption limits, a target scope, and a duration — once, a set number of cycles, or forever. Some are flagged as referral codes.
Invoices
Every cycle emails a GST invoice with its tax lines. Credit notes and refunds appear in the same history.

Cancellation

Cancellation is self-service and takes effect at the end of the period already paid for — the subscriber keeps access until then and the plan stops renewing. It does not need a support ticket. Metered usage already consumed is not refunded.

Subscribers are grandfathered onto the plan they signed up on: the price and limits they saw stay theirs while the subscription is active. New pricing applies only if they switch plans themselves.

What this does not do

Worth knowing before you plan around it.

  • Recurring collection runs through Razorpay, which means UPI Autopay and card recurring mandates, in Indian Rupees.
  • Cycles already paid for are not refundable; cancelling stops future charges rather than reversing past ones.
  • Metered features bill on recorded usage. Check the ledger before disputing a cycle — it is append-only and is the source of truth for what was consumed.

Common questions

What happens to access if a renewal payment fails?

The entitlement stays active through a grace window while the retry sequence runs, so a temporary payment failure does not lock the subscriber out. Access ends if the subscription ultimately lapses.

Can a subscriber cancel without contacting support?

Yes. Cancellation is self-service from billing settings and takes effect at the end of the current paid period. Access continues until then and no further charges are made.

If I change my plan’s price, what happens to existing subscribers?

They keep the price and limits they subscribed on for as long as the subscription stays active. New pricing applies to new subscribers, or if an existing subscriber switches plans themselves.
